Ebb and Flow Retreats

The concept for creating a space for small groups to gather began to form in early 2013 when I (Kathleen Oddi Marzahl) , the founder and creator behind Ebb and Flow Retreats, began thinking about how I wanted to spend my time after retiring from my corporate job.

In 2018, I decided I could realize my vision before retirement. The concept turned to a vision with the purchase of a home on Eld Inlet in Olympia WA. In 2019, I began offering small group weekends retreats, designed to help participants connect, reflect and restore.

Pausing retreats in 2020 due to the global pandemic, my focus was turned to renovations. Additions of a hot tub, sauna, large outdoor patio, fire pit, and outdoor pizza oven. All the interiors spaces touched to create the the atmosphere of relaxation and ease, from the moment you walk in the door, you have arrived. I am pleased to restart holding retreats in summer 2023.

Movement has always been a part of my life, including dance, sports, martial arts and yoga. Though I practiced Hatha yoga on and off for decades, I found my home in yoga in 2010 after taking a vinyasa class. The matching of asana and breath in a flow of movement made a deep connection. I found that time on my mat, translated into more balance, and peace in every other part of my life.

I attended Level One with Baron Baptiste in early 2013 to explore my own practice deeper, and by early fall signed up for teacher training. I received my RYT-200 certificate in 2013 through Shakti Vinyasa Yoga, with Lisa Black. In 2014, I completed the teacher mentorship program and have been teaching ever since. I enjoy workshops with master teachers including Jason Crandall, and Rolf Gates, and in 2023, I completed my Yin Yoga Teacher certification at Kripalu with teachers Jashoda Edmunds and Brahmani Liebman.

Growing up on the beaches of southern California, I have called the pacific northwest home for the last+ 30 years. Along with my husband Scott, we have raised our three now adult children in Issaquah. Off the mat, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, dancing, live music, travel, hiking, gardening, spending time on the water and with my pup Gemma.
